Dizon to abolish DPWH internal special investigation team created to look into the flood control anomalies

MANILA, Philippines — Newly appointedPublic Works Secretary Vince Dizon will dissolve the internal special investigation team, created by predecessor, Manuel Bonoan, which was tasked to look into anomalous flood control projects. Dizon on Tuesday expressed belief that the creation of the team was not right, saying that the matter was better left to the independent investigating committee that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. would create. "I will dissolve it. I think it is not right to investigate yourself," he said. "The President will create an independent commission. That's the proper way," added Dizon, " We should trust the wisdom of the President, we need an independent commission. You don't investigate your own organization. I will abolish it today," added Dizon. On Aug. 28, 2025, Bonoan issued Department Order 166, creating the DPWH Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Committee, as part of the measures he adopted after the flood control projects scandal erupted.
